Isn't it strange how things like this happen, I find this site last night and then the next day this report pops up. Enjoy.

A BRITISH woman who said she suffered cruel jibes from work colleagues because of her chronic flatulence has lost a discrimination claim.

The unnamed woman said she was taunted by colleagues at Leeds Metropolitan University because she suffered from severe irritable bowel syndrome and claimed disability and racial discrimination against the university, as well as constructive dismissal.

A Leeds employment tribunal was told one workmate said: "She opens the window because she sits there and stinks the place out - we shouldn't have to put up with it."

She told the hearing colleagues would make sniffing noises and "bowel jokes" when she was within earshot.

The three-strong tribunal panel dismissed all three of her claims, the British Press Association reported.

Hi Denise. Original website. I suffer from flatulence. I have IBS and lactose intolerance. Some days I am not bad. If you have only 2 attacks a day, I can have a dozen, depending on what I have eaten and how much stress I am under. I am trying to increase fibre in my diet but you guessed it, it has made me very windy. I am going to be a little patient and see if I build up tolerance as is suggested by many sources (although I wonder sometimes how much they really understand IBS). I am also trying probiotics and getting regular exercise. The other thing I am looking at is trophology (the study of what foods do and don't combine well). I am beginning to think there is something in trophology. I suppose you have tried all this. What I have found is that there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Flatulence is one of those problems that is not simple to treat.

Flatulence is less of a problem in some cultures as you know. The same with odours in general. They are very much a perception thing. Most Westerners don't like the odour that comes from curry (as an example) but in some cultures it is considered normal. I suppose it is partly to do with the fact that everybody in that culture carries the odour. But the other part is being brought up thinking that it is not an offensive odour or that, if it is, it is not the worst.

Hi Denise I don't have flatulence problems but I heard about this a few years ago and I thought this is a shame that these people have to be judged for something that is not their fault. I know you probably tried many things in the past but please try these. Drnatura is a colon cleansing kit that removes the junk from the colon that causes you to have digestive problems.I have tried this and it really helped me with my constipation. I haven't tried this diet but I am about to. It is called the Mcdougall diet it is a starch base diet. If this sounds too extreme you can google in Dr.McDougall diet and do some research. I hope you can try both of these because this can make things so much better for you and other people.
Sincerely,
Brittany Shelley
